Humph. It's raining. I don't like the rain. Hmm, why not? I always feel sad when it rains... I've always liked the rain. It's refreshing and calming somehow. ... Hey, promise me something? Sure. Come to me when it rains. [smiles] Of course.
. . .
Years have passed and even though I know he's gone, I still find myself hoping for rain.
That was just a little story I was thinking of while working on this piece.
This is a little different from my usual style, but I recently rented 5 Centimeters Per Second and found Makoto Shinkai's work incredibly inspiring. The film was down right beautiful, even though it was a sad story overall. But let's face it, those are the types of stories I like the most.
Hence, this piece is a small homage to that great film. I hope that in a small way, it captured the spirit of Makoto Shinkai's work.
(Pattern on the umbrella was from a notebook I scanned in. Small edit to bump up the contrast and add an anime-esque snazzy lens flare )
I absolutely loved 5 centimetres per second, it was so moving and it's got to be one of the most beautiful and inspritional films I've seen. I think this image gives off some of emotions and it's theme very well since it looks a bit dreamlike and it's a unique kind of image that matches a sweet story you made. Great job and I'm glad some more people have watched that lovely movie =]
I love this! Honestly, it reminds me of myself...except I would not have an umbrella. I love the rain...meant the pose. I always find the rain calming and refreshing, too. Maybe I should move to Seattle. Anyway, love the colors and everything about this. One of your best, in my opinion. Good luck!
